Karen Smith is a senior litigation/trial paralegal with Amy Stewart PC. She has 21 years of experience in legal support roles for both large and small law firms in Texas and Virginia.

Approaching every matter with a fresh perspective and independent insight, Karen applies her comprehensive litigation background to add value to every case that she supports. Karen's tasks include conducting legal research, business research, document production, drafting discovery, drafting memoranda, agreements and other documents, managing case files, and assisting in trial preparation.

Before joining Amy Stewart PC, Karen was a litigation paralegal at a large international full-service law firm. She has worked at firms specializing in commercial litigation, insurance litigation, bankruptcy, professional liability, and corporate and securities lawsuits. Karen has dedicated her career to providing exceptional and thorough service in every matter she undertakes. In the fast-paced and unpredictable world of litigation, Karen brings a wealth of experience and approaches every task with focus, exhaustive preparation, and attention to detail.

PROFESSIONAL & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Karen is an active and committed member of the paralegal community, where she has held a number of leadership roles over the years. She is a member of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas, and recently served as the CLE Sub-Chair (Dallas District). Karen was previously the Committee Sub-Chair for the Professional Development Committee. She is also a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas and the National Association of Legal Assistants.

Karen is on the Board of Directors and is President-Elect (2012) of the Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA), and she currently serves as DAPA's Education Vice President and Entertainment Chair. In 2010, she received the Dallas Area Paralegal Association Volunteer of the Year Award.

She is also a member of the Junior League of Dallas.
