Mindy started her career as a litigator at Strasburger and Price, now Clark Hill, before finding her niche in insurance coverage. Over her more than 30 years of practicing law, most of her time has been spent representing insurers in a broad range of insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions, and breach of contract claims, in both state and federal courts. Mindy also has extensive experience in counseling and providing coverage analyses on behalf of insurers on complex issues of policy interpretation. She jumped at the opportunity to move to the other side and use her skills to help policyholders navigate and negotiate their insurance coverage issues.
Mindy’s vast experience on the insurer side, as well as her understanding of how insurers work and make decisions, make her particularly well-suited to represent and advise policyholders. She enjoys digging into an insurance policy to help her clients find coverage, and particularly enjoys thinking outside the box in order to respond to the insurer’s denial letter or summary judgment motion.
Although starting her legal career in Dallas, Mindy now calls Houston home, where she lives with her husband, David, the managing partner of the Houston office of Walters, Balido & Crain, and their “bonus baby” – their “big kids” have left the nest. When she’s not practicing law, you can find Mindy playing tennis, in a gym watching her son play basketball, or planning her next trip to 30A with her family.

Employment
Before joining Amy Stewart Law, Mindy was a partner at the Houston firm of McKinney Taylor, where she represented insurers in all aspects of state and federal litigation, as well as pre-litigation matters, and also helped her partners with heavy-lifting on researching and briefing complex legal issues and motions. She previously practiced at Litchfield Cavo, handling the same types of matters. Mindy started her career at Strasburger & Price, now Clark Hill, in the general litigation practice area. At Strasburger, she represented clients in all aspects of state and federal litigation, until she had the opportunity to use her analytical and writing skills to assist in the insurance coverage section. Insurance Coverage has been her focus ever since.
